Animal Kingdom Final

Today’s early start was vital as we had to make ropedrop for Navi River Journey. The bus heading to Animal Kingdom was packed. Oma Lulu unfortunately had to wait for the next bus as the bus had already reached its maximum number of ECV load. Fortunately, another bus came along fairly quickly. As expected, the gates opened at 7:15 for extra magic hour even though the official opening time was 08:00. We walked straight on to Navi and then went looking for breakfast. It was fortunate that we bought our breakfast early. By the time we finished, we noted that the line for Starbucks was almost as long as the one for Flight of Passage! But in seriousness, the wait time for Flight of Passage was a ridiculous 240 minutes!! By park opening, the wait time for Navi had also ballooned out to 90 minutes.

With warmer weather today, we went on Kilamanjaro Safari. There were definitely more animals moving around which made for easier photography! Our dining reservation at Tiffins we something we were looking forward to. It was a new signature restaurant, fine dining with African, South American, and Asian influences that supposedly catered to “refined” palates. It didn’t disappoint! The portion sizes were also much more manageable (is small in American terms!) which made for a more pleasant meal. Our lunch was also tied in to the Rivers of Light passage as we didn’t want to tie up our fastpasses to an attraction in the evening.

We meandered among the many trails in the park after lunch and then hopped on Kali River Rapids.
This was the first time we had gone on in warm weather with the sun on our side! And we got soaked! With rumours of Flight of Wonder being closed, we watched it again in awe of the amazing birds that were on display.

We were surprised to be able to fine a quiet spot right by the water for dinner at flame tree bbq. It had to be a quick meal as we needed to Rivers of Light, Animal Kingdom’s new night time show.

The show features water fountains, projections onto mist screens, floats, we well as fire and lasers. It was enjoyable and certainly different to the other night time shows at the other parks.
